The Government of Mexico City has published the bases of the "Christmas Posadas" program aimed at providing support to families during the December festivities. A drawing will be held in which 500 frozen turkeys and 318 household appliances, such as blenders, coffee makers, toasters, and air fryers, will be distributed. The purpose of the Christmas Posadas is to benefit low-income families so they can enjoy a Christmas dinner with their loved ones, thus promoting a spirit of unity and solidarity.
Elderly adults, people with disabilities, indigenous populations, and migrants will be prioritized in the distribution of the products. The municipality of Venustiano Carranza is the promoter of this Christmas program, which seeks to provide in-kind gifts to the local population. In addition to the frozen turkeys, household appliances such as toasters, blenders, irons, and Bluetooth speakers will be distributed. The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on families during a time that can be financially stressful, strengthening the community and the sense of belonging.
The second edition of the "Christmas Posadas" program by the municipality of Venustiano Carranza will take place in 2024, benefiting residents of 37 neighborhoods in the area. Among the participating neighborhoods are Ampliación Caracol, Arenal, 20 de Noviembre, Aquiles Serdán, among others. The distribution of gifts will take place during the month of December in various public spaces in the area, thus encouraging the celebration of traditions and promoting social cohesion and family ties.
To participate in the drawing for more than 800 products, interested individuals must register at the locations indicated by the municipality of Venustiano Carranza, presenting a valid official identification and filling out a form with personal information such as name, date of birth, occupation, among other details. This program seeks to create an environment of solidarity and mutual support in the community, strengthening the ties among the inhabitants of the area and promoting the Christmas spirit in Mexico City.
